【摘要】:Manyimportantpropertiesofcrosslinkedethyleneplasticsvarywiththegelcontent.Hence,determinationofthegelcontentprovidesameansofbothcontrollingtheprocessandratingthequalityoffinishedproducts.Extractiontestspermitverificationofthepropergelcontentofanygivencrosslinkedethyleneplasticandtheyalsopermitcomparisonbetweendifferentcrosslinkedethyleneplastics,includingthosecontainingfillers,providedthat,forthelatter,thefollowingconditionsaremet:5.2.1Thefillerisnotsolubleineitherdecahydronaphthaleneorxylenesattheextractiontemperature.5.2.2Theamountoffillerpresentinthecompoundeitherisknownorcanbedetermined.5.2.3Sufficientcrosslinkinghasbeenachievedtopreventmigrationoffillerduringtheextraction.Usuallyithasbeenfoundthat,atextractionlevelsupto50%,theextractantremainsclearandfreeoffiller.Sincesomeoxidativedegradationofthematerialcanoccurattherefluxtemperatureoftheextractants,asuitableantioxidantisaddedtotheextractanttoinhibitsuchdegradation.Beforeproceedingwiththistestmethod,referenceshouldbemadetothespecificationofthematerialbeingtested.Anytestspecimenpreparation,conditioning,dimensions,ortestingparameters,oracombinationthereof,coveredinthematerialsspecificationshalltakeprecedenceoverthosementionedinthistestmethod.Iftherearenomaterialspecifications,thenthedefaultconditionsapply.1.1Thegelcontent(insolublefraction)producedinethyleneplasticsbycrosslinkingcanbedeterminedbyextractingwithsolventssuchasdecahydronaphthaleneorxylenes.Suchextractiontestmethodsaredescribedherein.Theyareapplicabletocrosslinkedethyleneplasticsofalldensities,includingthosecontainingfillers,andallprovidecorrectionsfortheinertfillerspresentinsomeofthosecompounds.1.2TestMethodA,whichpermitsmostcompleteextractioninleasttime,istobeusedforrefereetests,buttwoalternativenonrefereeTestMethodsBandCarealsodescribed.Thefirstofthesediffersfromtherefereetestmethodonlyinsamplepreparation;thatis,itrequiresuseofshavingstakenatselectedpointsincableinsulation,forexample,ratherthanthegroundsamplerequiredbytherefereetestmethod.Becausetheshavedparticlesarelarger,lesstotalsurfacepersampleisexposedtotheextractant,sothistestmethodordinarilyyieldsextractionvaluesabout1to2%lowerthantherefereemethod.Thesecondofthealternativetestmethodsrequiresthataspecimeninonepiecebeextractedinxylenesataconstanttemperatureof110C.Atthistemperatureandwithaone-piecespecimen,evenlessextractionoccurs(from3to9%lessthantherefereetestmethod)butswellratio(ameasureofthedegreeofcrosslinkinginthegelphase)canbedetermined.1.3Extractiontestscanbemadeonarticlesofanyshape.Theyhavebeenparticularlyusefulforelectricalinsulationssincespecimensmaybeselectedfromthoseportionsoftheinsulationmostsusceptibletoinsufficientcrosslinking.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundunitsinbracketsareforinformationonly.ISO10147issimilartothistest,butisnotequivalent.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSections,,and.
