【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedtoevaluateautomotivemanualtransmissionfluidsforthermalinstability,whichresultsindeteriorationofsynchronizerperformance.Thistestmethodmayalsobeutilizedinotherspecificationsandclassificationsoftransmissionandgearlubricantssuchasthefollowing:5.2.1(finalAPIdesignationofPG-1),5.2.2MilitarySpecificationMIL-L-2105,5.2.3SAEInformationReportJ308AxleandManualTransmissionLubricants,and5.2.4MackTruckGO-HGearLubricantSpecification.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthethermalstabilityoffluidsforuseinheavydutymanualtransmissionswhenoperatedathightemperatures.1.2Thelubricantperformanceismeasuredbythenumberofshiftingcyclesthatcanbeperformedwithoutfailureofsynchronizationwhenthetransmissionisoperatedwhilecontinuouslycyclingbetweenhighandlowrange.1.3Correlationoftestresultswithtrucktransmissionservicehasnotbeenestablished.However,theprocedurehasbeenshowntoappropriatelyseparatetwotransmissionlubricants,whichhaveshownsatisfactoryandunsatisfactoryfieldperformanceinthetrucksofonemanufacturer.1.4Changesinthistestmethodmaybenecessaryduetorefinementsintheprocedure,obsolescenceofparts,orreagents,andsoforth.ThesechangeswillbeincorporatedbyInformationLettersissuedbytheASTMTestMonitoringCenter(TMC).Thetestmethodwillberevisedtoshowthecontentofalltheletters,asissued.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Whenmaterials,products,orequipmentareavailableonlyininch-poundunits,SIunitsareomitted.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6Thistestmethodisarrangedasfollows:
